Why have you used Notion to house the projects, instead of creating a standalone app? Currently, I am happy to keep using Notion because it is already a brilliantly sophisticated, highly-trusted, platform, and it has worked seamlessly for my personal Love Mum Project since 2020. Its user features are perfectly aligned with what I want to offer through my Project templates. Continuing to use Notion means I can get into the hands (and hearts) of more parents sooner, spreading my message wider that today is the day to start this commitment to your kids.
Since Notion is free, why can't I just make a Project myself?Starting a legacy project independently is a commendable effort, but the Love Mum Project brings a structured, research-based framework, expertly designed to guide you in creating a comprehensive and meaningful legacy. The platform not only saves time and effort but also enriches the content with child development insights and prompts that ensure your contributions are both impactful and age-appropriate. Moreover, it provides a secure, organised digital space for all your memories, advice, and reflections - something that can be challenging to replicate on your own. By choosing the Love Mum Project, you're not just buying a product; you're investing in a professionally curated experience that enhances the value of your personal legacy for your children.
What would happen to my Project if Notion shut down?With seemingly more frequent upsets in the tech sphere of late, it would be remiss of me not to consider what would happen to everyone's Love Mum Projects (mine included) if Notion was to go bankrupt or cease to exist. The immediate concern would be access to your data. Assuming Notion provided a notice period for the termination of its services, there would be time to export all your workspace content in formats like PDF, CSV, HTML or Markdown. This is already an option, and is good practice when you're using any cloud service. I recommend and provide instructions to Project participants on how to periodically back up their Notion data. At least that would mean you'd have access to your most recent copy of your Project. Given Notion's significant popularity, in the case of bankruptcy, it's possible that another company might acquire it. In some cases like this, services continue to operate while a business seeks a buyer or goes through a restructure. As stipulated in the Terms and Conditions of Sale, I cannot take responsibility for the ongoing functioning of Notion, nor guarantee it will always provide a free option.
I'm not sure I feel comfortable sharing sensitive information about my children. Where is my data stored? As with any Internet-based service, there are inherent risks, and no platform can claim absolute security, but both Typeform and Notion (the two platforms we utilise in handling your data) take various measures to ensure the safety and privacy of their users' data. They use encryption to protect data in transit (as it moves between a user's device and their servers) and at rest (when it's stored on their servers), so even if someone were to gain unauthorised access to the physical servers, they wouldn't be able to read the data without the encryption keys. Both companies have undergone third-party security audits to ensure their practices are compliant with global privacy regulations like GDPR.
​Do I need any special skills to work on my Project?The Love Mum Project is designed to be user-friendly, requiring no special skills or technical expertise. The primary tool used for the project is Notion, a versatile and intuitive application. You'll find it straightforward to navigate, with basic functions like adding text, images, audio, and organising your content into different sections. The project comes with a comprehensive guide to help you familiarise yourself with Notion's features. If you're new to Notion, you'll quickly get the hang of it as the platform is very user-centric. However, regular access to a computer or a smart device and basic digital literacy will enhance your experience with the project.
What support is available if I encounter issues with the Project?If you encounter any issues while using the Love Mum Project, there are several support options available. First, the project guide provides detailed instructions and troubleshooting tips for common issues. For more specific queries or technical difficulties, you can contact our support team via email, which is available to assist you. Additionally, Notion has its own comprehensive help center and community forums where you can seek assistance for platform-specific queries. What happens to my Project in the event that I pass away?In the event of your incapacitation or passing, the Love Mum Project is designed to ensure your legacy continues through a designated "Keepsaker." This individual, chosen by you, will be the caretaker of your project. They will be responsible for managing and delivering the contents of your project to your children or other designated recipients at appropriate times. It’s advisable to inform your Keepsaker about their role and ensure they understand how to access and manage your project. You can also include instructions within the project to guide your Keepsaker on how to proceed in various scenarios.
